Free stuff for your Second Life, why not?

Written on August 9th, 2007 by Chino

Aside from the Free Lindens you can get from First Opinions Panel, Earn2Life and so on that you can find in my Linden Dollars list, of course, there are also good freebies out there that you might want to check out.

Three Stars and Sun.

My Filipino Friend from SL, Rom Ireton, has a store called 3 Stars and Sun (derived from the flag of the Philippines) that gives a lot of free stuff like quality Nike Shox, other shoes, accessories, clothes and many more. These are given away through those regular boxes and more quality freebies through a Trivia running in his store. Another one thing that I like about 3 Stars and Sun, is the very Filipino design especially the new Tagaytay Skybox. Below is a screenshot of what the skybox look like.

Tagaytay in Second Life

Yalin’s Medieval.

There are only 3 kind of free stuff at Yalin’s Medieval. Weapons, Face Lamp and Face Animation HUD. The freebie weapons are those who wants to smash and fight and crash a place. LOL. The Face lamp is to illuminate your face and hide those unwanted lines. Last but not the least, the FACE AO HUD.

So what is the face animation HUD? It is like any Animation Overrider out there for your Avatar but this time, it’s for your face. Check out how we look below using the Face AO.

Chino and Cynara with the Face Animation HUD

So get those free stuff that you might need and that Face AO that will definitely put more emotions to your Avatar’s face.

Mercedes Benz Class-C or Scion Tc? Cars for the Second Life.

Written on August 2nd, 2007 by Chino

What’s a Second Life without your own car? Especially when you are earning an average of L$60,000 linden dollars a month for free! Yes. As of July 31, 2007, my earnings have reached L$60,000 (expenses like clothes, accessories, contest and donations excluded). That’s a total of at least 240$ US dollars and almost how a normal Filipino working on a minimum wage will earn a month.

Anyway, I always liked cars since when I was a kid and now that I have money to buy my own car (in SL at least), I visited 2 of the most famous car Sim in SL.

Starting with the Scion City’s Scion Tc. Toyota Motor Corporation built this 3 region island to showcase Scion with an island wide city-like driving course. In my opinion, Scion is one of the greatly built cars in SL. The curves and details are very remarkable. The prims of the Scion are not edgy and its textures are very realistic. It comes with a HUD which allows you to change the rims and color of the car. It also has a meter and indicates the gear of your driving. In addition, it’s not just the outside of the car that is true to details, the dashboard and the whole interior of the car is also a masterpiece. (see image below, right half) Another remarkable feature that the Scion has is that the car vibrates and it has a SOUND! Talk about realism. For a very realistic car, L$300 linden dollars is a very good deal.

mercedes_benz_and_toyota_scion Next is the Mercedes Benz  Class-C. Mercedes Benz Island is a 9 region island with a little showroom for the car, has an automated tour, a gallery, a video presentation, a free racing suit and a HUGE racing test drive course. Just like the popular Scion in SL, the curves and details of the Mercedes Benz Class-C is very very very great. Although it doesn’t have a sound and a vibration like the Scion has, I say its HUD is very elegant, simple and stylish (see image on the left, left half). For such a car with style and very good design, L$1200 linden dollars makes the name Mercedes Benz still for the rich and famous.

The Face-Off

I noticed that the two cars has a different handling. The Mercedes Benz Class-C is very responsive and hard to control while the Scion Tc is very manageable. There’s one thing I don’t like in the Scion Tc though, because it has a vibration, whenever you hit a not-so-flat prim on the road, the car bounces. What we like is something that we can control easily and at the same time very classy and elegant.

With the features the car I’ve chosen to buy has, I know that the L$300 linden dollars that I spent to get that Scion Tc is very worth it.

Earning more linden dollars = good looking avatar.

Written on July 26th, 2007 by Chino

After playing Second Life for 4 months now (I started April 1, 2007) it is not hard to understand that in order to enjoy this virtual world or to look good at least, you must have Linden Dollars. We all know it’s not easy to earn linden dollars. Well, that is only if you don’t know where to get them or where you can earn. I researched and look for networks, sims, offerings for free lindens and now that it’s paying the bills (yes, free linden dollars all over SL can be a career! DUH! LOL). Thus, the list where you can earn linden dollars.

So looking good in SL is not easy and not just something anyone can do (unless you have all the money you can spend for clothes and stuff). I even found an SL public drama where those not-so-lucky avatars release their frustrations for not being “good-looking-enough”.

What I would like to show is, how free lindens change the way my avatar looks from newbie to model.

ac This very first pic on the left was taken some time in April or May 2007. I thought back then that having a good hair and presentable outfit is enough to look good. I got my money to buy those stuff from camping, creating an extra female avatar for escort service (AH HA! Isn’t it obvious? There might be escorts out there that are male RL. mwahaha) Yes, I did even created a female account just to make money in Second Life.

So this is how I look before. Even though there are already some who thought I’m cute, it’s just because of how Cynara (my girlfriend RL) molded my shape. Thanks to her, I don’t look a little newbie back then. Also, she’s the one working that time and I’m just a bum avatar. LOL

The next picture below is how I look right now (taken yesterday and earlier) and it’s because of earning free linden dollars everyday.

peace_ The picture on the left was taken yesterday. No photoshop processing except for the name Chino Yalin and I’m not pulling your leg. This shot was taken using a Photosphere, a studio that you can buy in SL for L$1500 and it only has 10 prims.

What I’m wearing here is the “Philanderer” outfit and leather bracelet by Ginny Talamasca - Last Call and again, my hair is called Rumor by FNKY! and my skin is the very common Antonio skin, FNKY too. I received emails asking where I got my shape, but unfortunately, this shape is made by Cynara Cortes and my wife is not selling it. I won’t sell it either. (the reason why most of the time, I’m the one using her Avatar and her using Chino Yalin.)

The pose I used here is from Happy Delight. It’s just L$15 which is very cheap for such a fun pose.

Chino Yalin - hommes with name Last but not the least, is how I look today! After earning L$2100 today, I bought a headset, a new glasses and a high fashion outfit for men from Paper Couture.

In this picture, the only photoshop edit I did is the “render light” filter, to give a shadow on that lower right corner, and of course, the Chino Yalin name.

You see, I cannot look this good without Linden Dollars. That’s a FACT in our Second Life. No money = nothing to buy. Nothing to buy = you look newbie. And we all know that no one wants to have sex with a noob!

That’s why I’m giving away L$5000 linden dollars for free for the month of August and continue to list down places and networks where you can earn free linden dollars. I hope that at least I can be of help for you to have a better Second Life and have a good looking avatar as well.

Have a beautiful Second Life!

Most Beautiful Second Life Avatar

Written on July 23rd, 2007 by Chino

beautiful_SL_avatar_cynara_cortes In a v irtual world where there are lots of ways on how you can look good, we all know for a fact that only a few looks beautiful. One of them, if I would say, is Cynara Cortes. She’s a real life fashionista, magazine writer and journalist that seems to apply her fashion skills in this world of Second Life. Her skills also sculpted my avatar, Chino Yalin, now so handsome and very much Asian as to how I wanted it. (can be the most handsome SL avatar, huh? hehe) She worked before st Skye’s Vintage Clothes as a model for Victorian outfits and obviously, she is very much in love with the Victorian era, conservative style and of course very much in love with me. LOL

Cynara will be featured in a Japanese SL Mag soon. It seems like Asians like how she looks more than the westerners. This is because when we were looking for beautiful lingerie for her at Insolence, there was this Japanese girl that liked her and asked her if she can invite Cynara for a photoshoot and to be featured in a magazine.

I remember one time that a popular SL Modeling Agency did not accept her application because their “standards” of beauty is one that my darling Cynara doesn’t conform to. Maybe the owners of that agency should see the Dove Evolution Commercial.

beautiful_SL_avatar_cynara_cortes_modelAfter that incident, we went to Isabella Sampaio for a consultation on Cynara’s appearance. However, Isabella wasn’t able to make my dear look better for she already thought that Cynara Cortes is so pretty and doesn’t need to change her appearance anymore.

Anyway, thanks to Isabella for she only charged us L$1000 for the consultation and not the regular L$1500.

Thanks to Paper Couture for Cynara’s bag, Ginny Talamasca’s Last Call for the outfit, Muse watch by Caliah Lyon and Shiny things for the wonderful Victorian shoes (not seen on pic).

If you have problems on getting linden dollars to buy such beautiful clothes and accessories, just check out the Free Linden Dollars page for a list of where you can get free linden dollars.

Faces of Asia, too late for me to be in the Second Life contest.

Written on July 21st, 2007 by Chino

A group of well known SL designers is seeking avatars with an Asian appearance that look good, even gorgeous, to walk the runway and appear in promotional advertisements.

chino_yalin_asian_modelFaces of Asia… aah the fame and fortune that you will get for just being a good looking asian avatar. However, this contest, calling asian looking hotties is something that I cannot be part of anymore nor even try my luck for it. It’s because the submission for entries closed last month, June 27, and I only found out about the contest last wednesday (too bad for me). That’s a chance to earn L$10,000 linden dollars!

I could’ve been the 4th Filipino to be joining the contest, if ever. (LOL, I wish!) I heard that popular Sylar Boyd, one of the popular Filipino in Second Life, is in the contest. Our friend Rodion of Avatrian Central in Second Life, who’s also a Filipino living in Cebu city told me there are 3, so I wonder who the other two are.

In addition, I think Filipinos will conquer SL as well. mwahahaha! Lucas Lameth and Shai Delacroix, two of the most popular designers in SL are Filipinos and I am so proud to know that there are Filipinos out there who are BIG TIME in the virtual world. Not to mention, the two are also part of the 5 people from Asian Design Summit Team that will be judging who will become the top most male and female avatar in the Faces of Asia.

Anyway, on the left is a picture of me. Taken from a self-made studio in our house. The outfit is ‘Adulterer’ from Casa Del Shai, gloves and bracelet are from Last Call (they’re not available anymore), I’m wearing a black shoes from Shiny Things but it’s not shown in the picture.

Most of all, I wont be able to look like that if I didn’t have the money to buy the skin, hair, clothes. (my shape is made by Cynara Cortes, she’s such a good shape maker.) So to know where YOU can get free linden dollars and make money in Second Life as well, try visiting my .

Skins, clothes, shoes and accessories for your Avatar will always be good investments.

Written on July 20th, 2007 by Chino

After earning free lindens, it’s just common sense that you have to spend money or put it somewhere where you can earn more. For now, let’s just say you’ll be spending your free linden dollars.

Weeks ago, Cynara and I received an invitation for a Grand Ball Opening of Kidd Island. To our surprise, it will be a masquerade ball. So we have lots of problem! 1 is to get formal clothes that will fit for the medieval period and celtic. 2nd, we should have our own masks from Illusions (a mask store). 3rd we lack funds to look so good.

We filled up offers that gives free lindens so we can raise the money. Thanks to , we got ourselves a mask for the two of us. However, the mask is not enough, we still need good clothes. We wander and searched for the high quality and clothes with better textures rather than just settling for something that just looks good. Cynara advised me, “better and high quality textures first.” Not bad actually, thinking I got myself a Dhampir Rider outfit from B@REROSE and Cynara got a good dress namely “Josephine” by Ginny Talamasca, Last Call.

After getting a mask and a costume, we searched for good hair, luckily the hair that will fit the theme and will look good on me can also be found at Illusions. There’s less hassle for us after that since we only need Cynara’s hair.

We got them all in the end. Cynara and I were ready to go to the ball. The skins, clothes, shoes, accessories and hair really compliments one another. If I didn’t have the opportunity to , we would not be able to get ourselves a decent costume in the first place.

Anyway, all in all this is how we look in the end:

Looking good will always be a good investment in Second Life.
