Fed up of HippiePay

It’s getting irritating. Second Life is not just for United States. Whenever I search for Free Lindens in-world, (especially in the new search UI of the client) all I see is "HippiePay".

Difficulty in Searching for Free Lindens.

Actually, it is easy for a newbie to go look for free lindens on your first hour in-world. But as time goes by, and finishing all the surveys available for you in the famous HippiePay, it will get harder to look for free lindens since all you’ll see are HIPPIEPAY. With this, even if Casinos were supposedly not allowed, some land owners disguised it through skill games.

Isn’t this a Casino?

WyldSide Games

The name is surely not a Casino but with the games that you have to pay to get more money? The reason why free lindens are called "FREE" is because you don’t have to pay for it. Now if there’s an amount that you have to give or initial payment you have to do to be able to play this games, isn’t it the same thing as gambling?

If you liked this post, buy me a coffee. (Suggested: 3$ for a Caffè Mocha or 6$ if ever I have a date.)

Sorry about my ignorance again, but what is hippie pay?

And it does sound like gambling when “there’s an amount that you have to give or initial payment you have to do to be able to play this games”, it seems like people are trying to get around the no gambling rule or at least bend the rule to their own benefit.

It was one of the first places you just had to fill out surveys for some quick Lindens. They have crumbled down to very little survey choices, with very little payout.
For them to make any money, I guess they have resorted to gambling, in one shape or another.

I was fed up with HippiePay the first time I tried it. My computer started acting all funny after I took the first survey, and it took me about two weeks to get all the spyware cleaned off of it to fix that problem.

I don’t think the Lindens are enforcing the gambling ban to the letter of the law right now. Whether that’s because we’re misinterpreting these games or because LL is slow, I don’t know, however.

I think they are. Or else, where do they close an eye to the gambling in sl until july this year, where they announced it out of the blue?

Well the gambling thing was recognized as illegal in the US, so unless they wanted SL to be shutdown, they had to enforce it. So just like any legality, its being interpreted into these games.
Just like a lot of things that have been re-worded, or re-worked to be legal. Its still gambling…

HIPPIEPAY SUCKS BIG TIME.

I, for one, can’t even use it on my first try. For some stupid reason, i’m banned from using it, when i’ve never tried it before. Shit isn’t it, and if that’s not the case, i can’t even use other online survey programs other than E2L. But see, E2L never updates their list, and it’s been 3 months since i’ve signed up for FOP, but up til now, not a single survey came in my way. I remembered applying for a security job at some club, but i never got a reply :\. The only way i’m ever earning Lindens is via Reperes, camping and your blog Chino.

And i can’t even return my friend 800$L for helping me buy something in advance, as i’m short 100$L from that 800, where the 700 came from the last Reperes survey. Guess i’ll have to wait and bet on my luck for the next blog contest then :\

You could try the top commentor contest. It is a quick easy to earn L$500 if you manage to muscle your competitor out

It kinda sucks you were banned out of the blue, but your not missing out on much anymore. Maybe your IP was previously tracked and used by another? :(

I have the same opinion as you about FOP. I signed FOP about 4 months ago, i only received just a single survey. Perhaps it’s because i live outside US, i live in Europe.

I don’t understand why American people and European people has diferent treatment.

I don’t agree with it.

As you have noticed I’ve been slightly out of camping and SL business for last weeks, because of strong changes in real life.

And when I see such posts and info, I start wondering how hard it will be to resume my millionaire project…

Chino has made a million lindens and more since he started this blog, so with that said, we should all be on a mission to do the same. Good luck to you, and I hope to be right there with ya.

You are totally right!
Casino games just work unfairly, and about hippie pay, I’m Italian, and there is only one or two links good for me!
Further, hippie pay is really the only source of so called ‘free linden’ in SL, if one doesn’t want to camp!
Really odd system, yes.

The lure of lottery is a tough one to walk away from, especially when your starting out with very little. These machines were a quick way to empty my pockets when I first started out. I don’t mind that they are gone personally, but I am a more advanced SL user. It was obviously a great way for the machine owner to make money though. That had to hurt when they were all pulled.

No. Skill games are NOT considered Gambling. no matter how you look at it. gambling involves complete and total chance. rolling dice and RELYING SOLY ON THAT OUTCOME to give you your win.

Skill games involve you to actually be good and maintain your achievement in order to win your prize.

If your in a contest to see who can pop the most balloons with 10 darts.. the prize being 100 dollars to the person who pops the most.. is that gambling? HELL NO. Thats Skill. Anything that involves thinking, placement, and strategy is skill. if you dont know how to play a game.. you obviously will do worse then the guy who DOES know how to play.

So stop with this crap about how paying in money to win money is always gambling. there are fine games out there that require skill. Zyngo, Devil may Care, Deal, And a List of other games SPECIFICLY in the game room at the above posted pic are all Skill games. and APPROVED SO by lindens. Stop whining and crying and do something creative! Make your own game! Get it aproved! Do Something constructive.. but for GOD SAKES STOP WHINING!!

Call me confused, but.. this picture.. on this article.. theres not a hippiepay machine in sight on there. Is that picture really relevant? I’d think to gain some credibility to the article they’d at least post a picture that included the item they were complaining about!

I totally agree with Alexandra Fallon. Perfect observation. Not a hippiepay machine anywhere in the above picture. So it is fair to say that this article is defamatory and falsified with both it’s photo and it’s content. According to the gabling legislation randomly generated numbers are considered as gambling. Like others have posted about, these are skill based games and the games shown in the photo are all known to be approved games.

There is no deception or con. Just like you pay to go to a themepark to have some fun, sl residents pay a fee to pay these skill games. How can this be gambling?

I also find it wrong that a photo of a premises has been used without the express permission of the owner of that premises. Journalism has it’s own ethics and i think this somewhat goes against that.

No the place you have pictured there is NOT a casino, these are Arcade games, like a video arcade, the laws and ToS are very specific as to what constitutes a casino. And the place pictured here DOES offer free lindens, you just have to ask the owner how.

And the reason it’s getting so hard to find a hippy pay is because of recent new restrictions governing this services and machines.
The owner of the place pictured above did not put in Hippy pay most likely because of said restrictions and rules governing their use.

MGHG is the owner of Wyldside and isnt happy youre blasting the place when you dont know what youre talking about. Perhaps MGHG (or another zyngo place owner) did something to “someones” and they thought “ill get payback by badmouthing them on my blog.”

1- Zyngo isnt a slot machine. Its skill based, and while scores vary from game to game, youll find you consistently score in a certain range depending on your skill. I consistently score in the 50K range and peak into the 60s and 70s with forages into the 80-90k range. Others score higher, with forages into the 90K and even 100K range. That’s skill.

2- MGHG also has freeplay machines at WYLDSIDE. Simply play til you beat the high score and youll get FREE LINDENS. That is…if someone doesnt beat your high score before the timer runs out :)

Unlike casino games, zyngo parlour owners arent “rolling in cash.” Zyngo machines CANNOT BE RIGGED like slots. Higher scores are harder to beat, but pay more than lower scoring ones (or people wont play them).

If youre thinking “ill buy a few machines and make a killing,” you are SORELY MISTAKEN and will soon be broke (or banned when your machine(s) are beaten and they dont pay out).

Do some reasearch into the topic at hand before you slander

This was the first thing I did when I created my avatar, go looking for “free” lindens that is. I didn’t really understand the easiest ways to make money in the game besides buying money from Linden Labs on credit card. I never ended up buying money so I’ve tried all those surveys like hippie pay and other popular ones… the only drawback to this is that the money is not entirely “free” because free implies that you won’t have to do much to recieve it. Some surveys are much more comprehensive than others and require alot of home information and your e-mail which causes much un-wanted spam. If you are filling out these surveys you should always use an alternative e-mail address to prevent from spam & other company solicitations! : )

Hippy Pay isn’t that bad. That’s were I got my first few hundred L$ when I started. Filling out forms and signing up for things once you have a throwaway e-mail address. I don’t take offers where you have to download software either. I just don’t trust it.

I have to agree with cuddles on the slandering of WyldSide. I found it very distasteful.

In all actuality, the club looks nothing like the photo on this blog. Its a gorgeous building which is half gaming area and half strip club.

I enjoy going to WyldSide on a regular basis, and have also found there are many opportunities to get free lindens there. There is camping, lucky chairs, random money givers, sploders, and other fun things. I was even offered a job there!

So, please be kind to the nice folks at WyldSide. It’s one of my favorite places!

You consistently score in the 50k range? Ok I’ll take that bet. 100$ US says you can’t do it on a machine of my choosing. Not to worried since you won’t take the bet. Random numbers, you are obviously not a programmer. The only skill required in this game is the skill to read numbers.

oh yes, forgot to mention since you did say consistently. For this to mean anything. 10 games in a row of over 50K. Should be easy for someone skilled. Don;t get me wrong, I play the game and do quite well, at times. But it is all random, with minimal skill involved. If the numbers don;t show up, or you’re at 80k on round 20 and the devil takes 50% of your score, that’s not skill, it’s a random factor, decided upon by a random number generator. By lindens own terms, this game should not exist. I am quite sure the code is littered with random numbe generator routines, it’s the only way this game can do what it does. For all those that say it’s just skill. Well you should be rich now, and the people paying the highest should be broke. Sorry, only a moron would call this a game of complete skill. A delusional one at that
