From lindens to real money

Earlier today, I paid my host 40$ USD from my paypal account to renew my domain. Yes, chinoyray[dot]com 2008-2009. That was also the second time I will use money converted from linden dollars to US dollars to pay for real life goods/services online. (First was when I bought a Need For Speed : Prostreet.)

Changing L$ to US$

One way is from Second Life’s lindeX page. However, since they’re slower than the other services like AnsheX or WIC exchange, I prefer using the latter. Through the sites, I can directly convert my linden dollars to US dollars which will be then automatically paid to my PayPal account. Now that is faster and easier rather than waiting for Linden Labs to send you a check that will take 3 months to liquidate.

If you liked this post, buy me a coffee. (Suggested: 3$ for a Caffè Mocha or 6$ if ever I have a date.)

No experience with Lindenx as they do not cater for accounts that are not verified.

As for AnsheX, they catered for the rich only. If you do not have at least L$50,000, you can forget up using the service

Never heard of WICexchange. I will sure go and take a look.

You are currently reading about currency exchange services that eat a small portion of your wealth everything you use their service. I hope you understand that

Your absolutely right. I must have been reading another header and responded in the wrong place. Exchanges cost money, and we all want to make the most of our buck!

That is why ponzi scheme like the collapse of ginko financial got a lot of attention, at least in the second world and that the government was so concerned that it could be used as a cover for gambling when gambling was still permitted in second life

Gosh yes i never thought of the ethical repercussions in real life of the activities in second life! So there is a government and police for second life as well then. Fascinating!

And should it be neccessary that you need to contact someone for enforcement, you can send an ABUSE REPORT right from your SL screen.
Just click on HELP at the top of the screen and choose REPORT ABUSE. :)

Normally, you really need to set a minimum amount to be converted to lessen the other costs (example, service fee).

I still have to convert my IMVU credits via AnsheX ;)

I still cannot believe that the service at Anshex needs a minimum of 50,000L when slexchange offer the same thing and require only a minimum of 500L

Back when I started SL, after a few weeks of freebie hunting and camping I decided I really wanted some originality so I wanted to pay for L$. I did and created a decent AV.
Now the reverse would be so much cooler! Makin enough Lindens to have fun and make a buck to take back! :)

I have different from you. Guess I am more-profit oriented. So, I am laughing my way to the banks. ALthough not as much as chino

Well it started as more about the game to me, so I spend a lot on the AV. I still like to enhance it a bit whenever I have some extra lindens.
Converting everything to cash is definitely a better course of action. I think making money for RL from SL is a great idea! :)

I just wondering whether there is an established webiste that provides the service of converting your lindens to other internet currency (like egold, liberty reserver) other than paypal? I do not like to conduct such exchange with a fellow avatar

Another exchange is slexchange.com. They are much faster than the LindeX and way cheaper than AnsheX etc. Plus you can transfer any amount. They work with Paypal and have been around for years.

Very useful post! I’ll remeber it, when I’ll have linden enough to call it an ‘earning’ in real life!

It’s true Lindens can be very helpful for extra spending, if you have enough Lindens that is. I believe the current exchange rate is about 250L to $1.00 U.S. dollar. My teacher who has a very well-paying job in SL has made about $500.00 U.S. Dollars!! So it is very possible, but unless you are an extremely talented scripter or builder it is not likely you can make a living just playing the game. I wonder if Chino can? lol! ^_^

Huh, i wish I could make enough to pay for a proper hosting service o_o at least for 6 months, I don’t own a credit card, or a bank account -___- (yet), I don’t work either. The chances for me are very little…
