Linden Dollar Tip - How to use the search feature of Second Life to your Advantage. Same goes to RL search engines.
1. Use commonly searched words that are relevant to your BUSINESS!
I noticed that many companies, store and shop owners just put these following keywords on their classifieds even though their business is not related to these words:
sex, free lindens, camping, BDSM, free sex, orgy, earn lindens, and the list goes on and on….
However, that is marketing suicide! People won’t ever check your Ads again once they find out that you are telling them lies. What we want (even me) is to make people return to us because they got what they need from our Ads and checks out if there’s something new.
2. Always use generic words.
What is your business all about? Instead of putting the name of your business which is very uncommon to people, use common words that describes your business.
A good example is my site! Yes! Chino Yray dot com. Although, no one really searches for “Chino Yray” on the internet. So what did I do? CHECK THIS SITE’S TITLE TAB! It says “Earn Free Lindens | Make Money in Second Life with Chino Yray“. This way, people who search for “Earn Lindens“, “Free Lindens” and so on that are commonly searched will see my site on the pages of Google.com or Yahoo.com or any search engine out there.
Remember, people will not search for your name or your business’ brand name unless you are already popular like Microsoft or Google.
3. Give a short and straight description about your business.
Give at least a summary or a short sentence about your business. It is really hard to just read words and commas.
Example: male, female, costume, outfit, medieval, Final Fantasy, goth,
That way of putting a description is the worst! I’ve seen placements on the Classifieds section of SL written like that and they don’t help at all. Humans has this way of being lazy. Lazy to read, lazy to browse, lazy to scroll and any lazyness you can imagine. That’s why we have a search feature right? To get information fast! So business owners should give them fast too! Don’t let us search for the right word over hundreds of words that you’ve written.
A good example would be:
Sector 7 - The official Transformers Movie Sim. Grab your free copy of Bumblebee Avatar.
4. DO NOT FALSE ADVERTISE!
For whoever’s sake! It’s like 6 out of 10 Ads on the classifieds are false. You look for iPod, you find speakers and DJ stuff. You look for research and survey, you find Hippiepay! (wait.. is that considered false Ad?
) And the long list of false ads goes on.
Always REMEMBER, what we want is to make people return to us because they got what they need from our Ads and check out if there’s something new.
