Marketing your source of linden dollars

"Spamming groups inside Second Life will only turn people off." Andy Evans, CEO of First Opinions sent this message a while ago to people who are actively earning money for their .

I totally agree with this point. I remember residents from "Filipino" group telling me that they don’t want some individual in the group because they always send spam. Same goes to "Avilion Order"– a medieval group. They’ve been sharing to me their experience on group spammers and thanking me because I don’t do this on their group.

Spamming will just ruin your reputation

One thing I am sure is, if you plan to make money from Affiliate Programs such as First Opinion’s "earn 100L$ per successful membership",

DO NOT SPAM MESSAGE GROUPS. Well, unless it’s your own "Make Money in Second Life" group, then you can do what you want with it. Spamming will just cause people not to trust you. When people doesn’t trust you, why would they even believe for everything you say? We all hate spam. Put yourself in the place of the group members who receives spam, won’t you be annoyed as well?

A tip on marketing

If you can’t help it and feels like you really need to spam or tell them that a certain company gives linden dollars, do it in a conversational way.

Example of marketing through conversation:

Hey, I heard we can make linden dollars from this company. I tried joining and they did actually pay me. WOW!

If people did not reply to a sentence you said which is similar to that, then don’t put the name or anything because once you put the name of the company or anything that will make it look like SPAM, they won’t give attention. Now, if they do reply or shows interest, then hit them with your marketing words.

Example:

They paid me 500L$ for taking one survey. Isn’t that nice?

It’s First Opinion’s Panel. Do you want to join?

If they say yes, then give them your notecard, your link or website to get them signing. I suggest you use a website or a blog though because that way, you also get readers that will eventually read your blog and visit you from time to time.

Starting a good conversation may take time but in the long run, it’s more beneficial and efficient than copy & pasting a certain line and spamming groups.

I hope you learn something from me today. Happy Earnings!

Yeah, blogging about this is a very good idea. I have blog which is collecting electronic dusts. So yeah, I might do some cleaning up and pimping in the next few days. Do you mind if I link you?

This is very true… it’s unfortunate that we’re unable to mute groups in SL though… there are so much spam in some groups. It’s also not a good idea to quit those groups because they are not open to enrollment.

The worse cases are the people who spam for no reason, filling the channel with crap like “lol” or “!!!” or “….”. They get banned and they continue with another account… -.-

Oh, you can be banned by typing “lol”? Wow, I hope they don’t ban me as I usually type it. Well, I can’t think of any other way to tell people that I really am laughing out loud. I’m a jolly person and I’m usually laughing. Hmmm…

Well I don’t just put “lol”. I usually say something I think is very funny (at least as to my opinion as I don’t think everyone has the same opinion as to what’s funny and what is ridiculously corny).

I hate being spammed too. I hope chinoyray doesn’t feel like his blog is being spammed :)

“lol” is ok but many “lol” without any follow out is spam. Typing “lol” without any logic is spam

“lol” is not even a complete statement by itself. And yes, using “lol” is ok, as long as the other part of the statement has a complete thought.

well i read this entry and found out that this is just the thing i did i mean not spamming but the tactic of have a good conversation and it did really work out. One more thing that can be done is that you can ask and oursade your friends to join SeconLife and then give them the links to sites like ear2life, slamX etc…

Enjoy,

Adi

Lol I feel that chino’s blog is a better place to earn a few L’s than all the other sources put together.

There is a great deal of groups that I have had a flood of messages with…wether its group IM during your time online, or notices that flood my email, but typically its different events, or different people that within the same place holding their own events…
If you have the ability to use a program like OUTLOOK for your email, you can setup rules to sort the email automatically, and I set them up to go to their own folders. Great way to presort all that stuff and keep you from going mad at all the email in your inbox. :)
As far as on the game….IMs, can be ignored easy enough….its simply a setting on wether or not you see it in your main chat. ;)

Just 2 days ago there was a guy who spammed Alien Nation 2.0 in SL wich is 1 of my fav places in SL.
Well i got even with him wich was not a very good idea cause spamming may get U banned out of SL if U get reported.
I hope i will not get reported cause i send him some spamming of my own wich felt good at the time but was stupid on the other hand because of the change 2 get reported to Linden Lab.
