President Arroyo inside Second Life

In a release by inquirer.net earlier today:

Arroyo activated her virtual self called an “avatar” in the Second Life online video game and community as part of the launch of the Philippine National Innovation Strategy in the National Innovation Summit in Makati.

Remember the survey conducted by First Opinions for IBM? That Virtual IBM Center will be the place where we can visit Madam President according to the news. However, I still have to visit the place to see if I can talk to her! (I hope her laptop is open and SL is running even if she’s going around the country and the world.)

Anyway, it’s either we visit the Virtual Business Center OR check the video of President Arroyo inside Second Life.

If you liked this post, buy me a coffee. (Suggested: 3$ for a Caffè Mocha or 6$ if ever I have a date.)

Look like the sizeable number of the filipino community made her convince to have a second life presence here. Wonder is it for political motive.

But anyway, she has join the rank of famous people who have a second life account

I read a while back that there were famous people names that were purposely changed a little, but they were out there in the SL world. Haven’t run across them yet. I wonder if I have spoke to any of them without even realizing it. In RL you see their face and immediately know it..a little tougher when you r not even good at names.

I doubt they would be interested in responding to a random message, but I am still curious if anyone thinks they were actually talking to someone famous behind the AV. Just for fun.

Actually it has nothing to do with the Filipino Community or politics. As I’ve explained on my blog, it is for an encouragement for the development of the Filipinos and the businesses in this country.

I can say that it is more Supra-Region 5: ICT Corridor inclined. More on the development side. PGMA doesn’t even know how to play SL ;) Her SL self was created by the President of Flipside Games Gabby Dizon.

I see. By just lending her name and prestige to patron this event, it certainly does boost the industry. Sorry for making the earlier comments

I am sure that a ton of famous people, have a plenty of time on their hands, and with all the press about the game in recent months, there should be plenty of them who not only have an incredible computer, but the interest in a second life. Famous people, just wanting to blend in. ;)

I wished that they were active player and history have shown that many of them are in fact inactive and only registered an account for an event or two before they do not log in again.

Can’t blame them as they have a first life account in real life

The mystery lies in wether they exist, and wether they would tell you they are there, and wether or not to believe them.
Anyone could be behind the mask, so to speak….the onyl way to know for sure is when they have a conference like Arroyo. :)

Makes sense to want to create a character name, even if you aren;t going to use it, just so that you don;t have someone else doing it and claiming to be you. Or whoever is in charge of their publicity might make that effort.

Whohoo! I guess we’re looking at influx of Filipinos coming in-world.

Chino, don’t you have like a similar post like this one? I think it was about some political personalities in the US having presence in SL. If I remember correctly, it was with other SL news about brain controlled avatars and something about Torley and another thing about I can’t remember what.

Actors and actress names are used but modified to make a spin off of them. Turns out, even my name is after a GI-JOE character, and I did not put that together until someone else told me. :)

Since most people join Second Life to have an alternate persona, I doubt many people want the AV to look exactly like them…even if it is an extension of themselves….excet maybe those running for president…has anyone seen hillary clinton running around? ;)

Yes people! The avatar got the mole! It’s not President Arroyo if the mole is not in its proper place. Found the avatar’s pic in CNET Asia

Oh my bad. I think not think that anyone want his/her physical flaw (sorry for the strong term. I apologize here, but I can’t think of a better term for that) to manifest on his/her avatar

Unless they truly want to be recognized….then its just for political reasons to me. I doubt the avatar will even be used by the person it represents. Instead its a tool of advertising :)

She does not need to be recongnize in second life. Recongnition by her fellow citizen in the first life will do

Its great publicity though. And you would want to recognized for it to work.

Seeing that she was created to scale and down to the fine details, chance are as good as nil. But that is what I like about the avtar. A total representation the preseident

Well If everyone starts getting avatars, we should start wondering if they are playing on the computer all the time like me, when they should be working. :)
