Welfare Island is the new HippiePay

I was looking for a new way to earn free linden dollars earlier and I stumbled on this Popular Places item namely, Welfare Island. I went to the place and when I got there, only one thing came into my mind… it’s a new HippiePay (think of HippiePay having a new name)

Welfare Island

Everything is so similar from the offers, to how the page and survey list has been placed on the site. Even the navigation and the content are pretty similar. Actually, their offers are the same.

So my question is that aren’t the 2 websites and service owned by the same company? We all know that HippiePay’s reputation is not that good for those who tried it already. I myself did not earn more than 100L$ from HippiePay since almost every offer they have are for US residents only. But of course, if you are from the US of A, then you’ll definitely earn thousands of linden dollars from them.

So for those who live outside of the US, I think all those services I used to make as much free linden dollars to keep this site and maintain my expenses will do. For those free linden dollars for everyone in the world, just check out my recommendation here at the free linden page.

But, like I’ve said before, it seems to come at cost with earning that much. You probably get that many more calls/spam/etc. Even this spam checker I have on my computer, that apparently signs up with the thing and sees how much spam it gets in a week, alerts me about the offers. I was considering making an e-mail account to collect all of the spam, but it didn’t look like many of the offers were all that “lenient” in asking about personal information.

There are a few others like Money Island and something like MyLindens (or similarly named) that are essentially the same things with maybe a few different options. And I suppose the Money Egg isn’t all that different either.

Yes, they are all the same and most just cater to US residents.

Welfare Island has recently (2/8/08) removed all their dance balls and appear to be doing changes to the place. My complaint is that many of the surveys they ask you to fill out don’t work, don’t give you any $$ and don’t raise your survey rank, which is supposed to increase your earning rate. Out of 7 or 8 surveys filled out, 3 registered and only 1 paid out what it said it would.
